Root Canal Retreatment
Retreatment is the procedure performed to re-clean a tooth that has already received a root canal. Usually root canals are successful the first time, but there are many reasons why a root canal would need to be redone. For example, some patients may have hidden canals that go untreated the first time, whereas others might develop a new infection caused by a leaking filling or crown or new cavity. The procedure is very similar to a root canal done for the first time, with the only difference being that your endodontist will have to remove the previous root filling material before cleaning out the inside of your tooth.
